Thandazile's Story
Thandazile, a 7-year-old girl at one of the Starfish Programs, was abandoned by her mother after birth and raised by her grandmother. Thandazile’s grandmother struggled to enroll her at school as she did not have a birth certificate.
Starfish stepped in to help enroll Thandazile in school and provided her with warm nutritious meals. A dedicated social worker also helped her obtain her long-awaited birth certificate, allowing them to apply for a government grant to cover some of her essential living expenses.
With Starfish’s help, Tandazile now attends school where she also receives warm and nutritious meals daily, she is now getting an education and the opportunities she needs to break free from the cycle of poverty.
Thandazile's life has taken a remarkable turn, she is visibly more cheerful and is blossoming at school.
