Dame Janet Suzman
PATRON
South Africa-born actor/director Dame Janet Suzman, DBE is an Hon. Associate Artist of the RSC, having played a good fistful of Shakespeare’s heroines culminating in a memorable Cleopatra; appeared in The Singing Detective and The Draughtsman’s Contract, both cult series; directed a ground-breaking Othello at The Market Theatre, Jo’burg, and written re-locations to SA of The Cherry Orchard and Brecht’s Setzuan.
She was nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Nicholas and Alexandra, and has twice won The Evening Standard Best Actress Award. Last year, she directed opera for the first time, Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro at the Hackney Empire.
Sir Mark Moody-Stuart

Sir Mark is vice chairman of the UN Global Compact, and chairman of the Global Compact Foundation and the Innovative Vector Control Consortium. He was chairman of Anglo American plc, a global mining and natural resources company, from 2002-2009. From 1998-2001 Sir Moody-Stuart was chairman of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of companies. He was also previously a Director of HSBC Holdings plc (2001-2010), President of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (1997-2008), and chairman of the Global Business Coalition for HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria (2002-2011). He has a keen interest in development and champions our work in South Africa.
Ed Cottrell

Ed is a partner at Bay Tree Private Equity. He was previously an executive and investment banker at Investec Bank PLC. He as been involved in Starfish since the early stages of its development, both as a supporter and board member, and most latterly as chair. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant, and has Bachelor of Business Science (Hons) from the University of Cape Town.
Matthew Houlton

Matthew is an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs. Matthew is a qualified lawyer admitted in England and Wales and prior to joining Goldman Sachs he worked in the banking and finance team at a City law firm where he focused on leverage, acquisition and real estate finance. Matthew graduated from King’s College London with an LLB (Hons) in Law before undertaking the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Moorgate.
Chris Kotze

Chris has held multiple roles at Investec Bank PLC including Financial Controller, Business Analyst, Operational Risk Manager and is currently responsible for a Finance Projects team. He is a Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Cape Town.
Ursula Schliessler

Ursula is a senior asset management professional who has led global teams across multiple functional areas for Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Legg Mason and is now focussing on non Executive Directorship positions. Ursula’s experience spans sales strategy, product development and management, business process design and implementation, operations, technology and data solutions and risk management. Ursula holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics and a Master of Commerce degree in Business Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
James Siswick

James is a partner in a global consulting firm specialising in Risk Consulting. He has a particular interest in South Africa and visits the country at least annually. Prior to joining the board of Starfish he spent six years as a trustee and governor of a primary school in South West London. He is a qualified accountant. He has run several half marathons for charity and is currently training for the London marathon.
Kat Smithson

Kat is the Director of Policy and Communications at NAT (National AIDS Trust) the UK’s policy and campaigning charity on HIV. Kat has over a decade of experience working in the UK voluntary sector, including professionally and voluntarily in the UK HIV sector. She is an NGO representative on the London HIV Fast Track Cities Leadership Group and Steering Committee member for England’s national HIV prevention programme, HIV Prevention England.
