Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)

How to Recommend a Grant

• • Log in to your DAF: Use your DAF provider’s portal (Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard, BNY Mellon, etc.) and start a grant recommendation.

  • Search for Starfish: Search by name and/or EIN #20-3622548.

  • Add a designation:  If your portal allows, include a note such as “Where most needed” or a specific program/purpose.

     

A Few Helpful Notes

• • DAF grants can’t be used for
    • Tickets, tables, auction purchases, membership benefits, or anything that provides goods or services to the donor.
      
    
    
  • Recognition & Receipts
    • If you’d like your grant to be recognized or in honor/memory of someone, include details in your DAF note field.
