Why Early Literacy Matters?
Early literacy is like planting seeds in a garden. The sooner we start nurturing these seeds, the more they grow into vibrant, strong plants. When children learn to read early, they are empowered, and they gain:

Starfish Intervention and Approach
At Starfish Greathearts Foundation, we’re committed to providing interventions and help children by teaching them the joy of reading early on. Our approach is simple yet effective:
- Community-Based Programs: We work closely with local communities to set up literacy programs that are accessible and engaging. From Storytime sessions to book donations, we ensure that children have the resources they need.
- Training and Support: We provide training for practitioners and caregivers by partnering with WordWorks, to equip them with the skills to support early literacy. Our goal is to create a network of enthusiastic literacy advocates who can inspire and educate young readers.
- Personalized Learning: We recognize that every child is unique. Our support is available for all our centres through our what’s app groups, one on one meetings, online training sessions, online training by experts, and collaboration with like minded organisations.
The Impact We’ve Made:
Thanks to the incredible provisions from our supporters, we’ve been able to make a significant impact. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve achieved together:
- Books for All: We’ve partnered with Book Dash Book and Biblionef and distributed thousands of books to children in underprivileged communities, ensuring they have access to a wide range of reading materials, and are able to create small libraries in their own homes.
- Successful Literacy Programs: Our community-based organisations have implemented literacy programs which reach hundreds of children, helping them develop a love for reading and laying a strong foundation for their future education.
- · Empowered Practitioners’: We have and continue to train numerous practitioners and caregivers, who are now better equipped to foster a love of reading in their students and children.
